Disappointed with that locked bootloader of the Transformer Prime? Well, Asus has just announced that it will soon release a tool for unlocking its quad-core tablet.

According to Asus’ Twitter feed, which was spotted by AndroidOS.in, the Unlocker is supposed to arrive in February and will allow users to install custom ROMs on their Primes.

Asus locked the Transformer Prime bootloader in order to comply with the DRM requirements of content providers, so using the tool will make renting videos via Google impossible.

Furthermore, the warranty of the 10.1-inch tablet will also be voided by this tool, which pretty much means that its use will be confined to the developer and enthusiast community.

An exact release date wasn’t provided by Asus, but fortunately February is just around the corner.
