The decision to pick Chrome OS over Android seems strange, though

Curious as to what company might soon be entering the Chromebook market? Rumors and hearsay seem to pick Asus as the next company that will be trying to make a name for itself in the said market as soon as Q4 2013.

According to Tomshardware, low notebook sales have forced Asus to think about a new niche product in order to get additional revenue, after having reduced its notebook shipment forecast to 17 – 19 million units, from what was initially thought to be in the 22 – 24 million units range.

However, considering that Chromebooks are still a low demand type product, the decision (should it prove to be true) might not necessarily turn out to be the one to increase their revenue.

While Chrome OS is indeed an option, if I were Asus, I'd be thinking about an Android-based laptop, considering all the love that Android has been receiving recently, both from Google and its huge third-party developer base.
