Both devices are expected to go on sale sometime in May/June

After announcing the Padfone Infinity at Mobile World Congress 2013 trade fair, Asus is now planning to introduce new Android devices that would target the mainstream market segment.

According to Digitimes, the company is actively working on an improved Nexus 7 tablet which will compete with Apple’s iPad Mini and other 7-inch tablets available on the market.

The upcoming second-generation Nexus 7 will have improved hardware and will be available for purchase for $250/€195 outright. The tablet is expected to go on sale as early as May.

In the same piece of news, Asus wants to launch a 5-inch smartphone equipped with Intel’s powerful Clover Trail+ chipset, sources from the upstream supply chain claim.

The smartphone that will boast a 5- or 5.5-inch display and the Intel Atom Z2580 processor will be available for purchase sometime in June at the earliest. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
