We first spotted Asus' new ROG CG8565 gaming desktop system in September of this year when we were blown away by its impressive specs and similarly impressive price tag, and now it looks like this powerful machine is finally getting ready for launch as it was just listed in Europe.

The system in housed inside an almost all-black chassis inspired by the design of stealth airplanes, and the matte box is powered by an Intel Core i7-2600K processor with quad computing that was overclocked to 4.2GHz from its original 3.6GHz base clock speed.

However, this isn't the maximum that owners of the system will be able to get out of Asus' desktop in terms of CPU speed, as the ROG CG8565 also comes fitted with a special overclocking button.

This is placed alongside the frontal I/O chassis connectors and enables the user to increase the CPU speed to either 3.4GHz or 3.6GHz with just the press of a button.

When in overclocking mode, the Asus desktop changes the LED color from blue to red and simultaneously adjusts the cooling system to cope with the higher heat output.

Speaking of the cooling system, Asus went with a closed-loop water cooler designed by Asetek.

The rest of the system specifications include a motherboard based on the Intel Z68 chipset, a whopping 16GB of DDR3 system memory, a pair of Intel SSDs in RAID 0 seconded by a 2TB hard drive spinning at 7200RPM, and an Asus Xonar DX sound card.

All these are paired together with an Asus GeForce GTX 590 graphics card built using two Nvidia GF110 graphics cores.

Asus Republic of Gamers CG8565 si already available for pre-order in Poland where it's listed at 13,957 Polish Zloty, including VAT. This translates into $3584 US or €2,629 Euro, after VAT is taken out of the equation. (via TCMagazine)
