We already reported on the latest Asus Padfone 2 leaks and we’re expecting the smartphone to go official on October 16.

More info on the Padfone 2 has just surfaced via UnwiredView, which confirms Asus is indeed planning to announce the smartphone.

In this regard, it looks like the Padfone 2 has just been approved by GCF (Global Certification Forum), which unveils more details on the phone’s specs sheet.

We now know the Padfone 2 will surely offer LTE supports for band 3, 7 and 20, which indicates that the smartphone will be launched in Europe, Latin America and Asia.

However, we expect Asus to release another version of Padfone 2 aimed at North American version. Stay tuned for more updates on this one.

The sequel to the recently launched Asus Padfone will offer customers the same combination of tablet and smartphone. The combo device, however, will be priced a bit higher due to the improved hardware configuration.

For example, Padfone 2 will now be powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz, which will be complemented by 2GB of RAM.

It will also boast a large 4.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display with HD (720 x 1280 pixels) resolution. On the back, the smartphone is said to pack an impressive 13-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording.

A secondary 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls will be available as well, along with NFC (Near Field Communication) technology.

The Padfone 2 will drain energy from a high-capacity 2140 mAh Li-Ion battery, which has yet to be officially rated by the manufacturer.

Asus already sent invites to the media for its launch event on October 16, which is set to take place in Milan, Italy and Taipei, Taiwan, respectively. We will keep an eye out on this one so stay tuned for the latest updates on the matter.
