It looks like Asus is planning to present a new Windows Mobile smartphone with a QWERTY keyboard, P3xx. The model of the handset is not yet confirmed but a list of specifications has been provided here.

Apparently, it will have a very similar design to the Treo's with a QWERTY keyboard right underneath the LCD screen. Also, it looks like this one is going to be Windows Mobile 6 (Crossbow) powered when available.

According to the leaked spec sheet, the Asus P3xx will work on GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz and UMTS 2100 Mhz and feature a 2.8 inch 65k color TFT with a 240 x 320 (QVGA) resolution, Intel Xscale 416 MHZ processor, 256 MB ROM and 64MB RAM, Bluetooth 2.0 and WiFI 802.11g for connectivity and Mini USB 1.1. Unfortunately, it looks like this one will not come with built-in GPS.

It will probably be a good device for both home and work use, bringing several business specific features as well as multimedia capabilities.

The QWERTY keypad seems to have become a must in this type of device and will ensure that the user can compose messages or edit documents with great ease.

Asus' P3xx handset will also come equipped with a 2.0 megapixel camera and a MicroSD card slot for memory expansion allowing the users to store a larger number of files.

Asus has produced several nice devices of this type so far, having recently announced the Asus P735. There is no information on when this handset will be officially announced but rumor has it that it will become available in the third quarter of this year.
