Asus Transformer Prime tablet gets 8.8.3.33 software update, may brick some devices

Asus’ recently released 8.8.3.33 software update for the highly popular Transformer Prime doesn’t spell good news for all the tablet’s users, as some have reported that the new firmware has bricked their device.

The update, which seems to bring a series of GPS and touch responsiveness improvements, has started to be pushed over-the-air a couple of days ago.

So far, this has reached quite an important number of users, but according to a thread started on the XDA-developer forums, the new software doesn’t spell good news for all of the tablets owners as some have bricked their device when updating the software.

Apparently, after the 8.8.3.33 firmware is applied, some tablets are stuck in the middle of the boot process.

Waiting for the tablet to deplete the battery seems to recover from the boot failure, but we can’t confirm that this will work for all the Primes bricked in this way. Asus hasn’t made any official comment regarding this issue.
