In the last year or so, Asus has brought to life an important number of media player solutions and the company has just announced that it will expand its product portfolio to feature yet another such device, dubbed the O!Play Gallery HD Media Player, which packs USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gb/s connectivity.

The new unit features updated specs compared to its predecessors and can stream all sorts of video and audio content in both wired and wireless modes.

In addition, users who want to store their content right on the media player will be certainly glad to hear that apart from the high-speed USB 3.0 connection interface available, Asus' unit can also be upgraded to feature a 3.5-inch hard drive via an internal SATA 6Gbps port.

Otherwise, the O!Play Gallery HD can playback content directly from memory cards and its software is built to work with online entertainment services such as Netflix (US only), YouTube, various online TV stations and radio streams, Flickr, Picasa and others.

Other features include Full HD 1080p and Dolby TrueHD 7.1-channel support via an HDMI connection, a Gracenote software interface (when an optional 3.5-inch hard disk is installed), compatibility with a wide range of media formats including ISO files and iPod/iPhone Full HD streaming support.

“The multi-role design of the O!Play Gallery offers easy connectivity with the iPhone and iPod, the latest USB 3.0, SATA 6Gb/s devices and support for 7.1-channel Dolby TrueHD audio.

“It provides a true home entertainment center that’s perfect for video, photos and music, with support for all major media formats,” reads Asus' official statement.

No information about the O!Play Gallery HD Media Player pricing and/or release date has been announced yet, so make sure to return for more updates.
