The first Asus N-series entertainment laptops powered by Intel Sandy Bridge processors have begun to arrive in European stores, where the 15.6-inch N55SF was listed with prices starting from roughly $1172 US.

The multimedia notebook features a redesigned chassis as well as a wide series of display options, starting from a low resolution 1366x768 panel and going all the way up to a Full HD 1080p screen, available with both matte and glossy finishes.

Under the hood, the Asus N55 can be configured with a wide range of Intel Sandy Bridge processors from the Core i3, i5 and i7 product families as well as with up to 8GB of DDR3 system memory.

The fast Intel chips are paired with a discrete Nvidia GeForce GT 555M graphics core based on the GF106 architecture.

This features 144 unified shaders, a 590MHz GPU clock speed, 1GB or 2GB of 900MHz DDR3 frame buffer as well as support for the PhysX, CUDA and PureVideo HD technologies.

As far as storage is concerned, Asus customers can choose from various 5400RPM or 7200RPM hard drive models, which top at 750GB, but they can also opt for a hybrid drive or SSD unit. The standard version of the N55 comes with a DVD burner, which can be upgraded to a Blu-ray combo drive.

Apart from the usual connectivity features that find their way in most notebooks, the N55 includes a pair of USB 3.0 ports as well as an HDMI 1.4 video output.

Just like the last year N-series models, the N55 is equipped with a Bang & Olufsen ICE Power high-fidelity audio sound system paired together with Asus' own SonicMaster technology.

Right now, the notebook was listed by two different Swedish retailers with prices starting at 9594 Kronor which translates into about $1172 US, after excluding VAT. The listed notebook sports a Core i5-2410M processors and a Full HD screen. (via Nordic Hardware)

Check out the last paragraph and you will find a link pointing to the Swedish websites where the N55SF is listed.

Sadly, I don't know when the N55 will arrive in the US.
