This might be happening within the next several months

Rumors on the upcoming Android 5.0 operating system have already started to surface in the wild, though the Ice Cream Sandwich adoption is still worryingly low.

Hopefully, Google will announce the next iteration of its mobile platform at the right time, but there's no telling which devices the company will target with Jelly Bean.

Until more details on its new features and capabilities start to emerge we can only speculate if this will either be a tablet-only platform or a multipurpose operating system that can be run on just about any mobile device.

One of the handset manufacturers that have come up with a slew of innovative devices at this year's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Asus claims that it might be one of the first companies to offer Android 5.0 Jelly Bean devices.

Given its very close relationship with Google, there's a high chance that we will be seeing Asus device running Jelly Bean within the next several months.

It looks like Benson Lin, Asus Corporate Vice President told TechRadar that he thinks that the company will be among the first to offer the Android 5.0 Jelly Bean update for its devices:

Asus is very close to Google, so once they have Android 5.0 I think there will be a high possibility that we will be the first wave to offer the Jelly Bean update.”

If we think that Asus was the first to launch a quad-core tablet running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform, then Lin's claims do no seem so unusual at all, on the contrary.

Even though Asus' official was only referring to an Android 5.0 Jelly Bean update that the company might offer to its customers, we can safely assume that new devices will be announced around the same time frame. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
