Asus M930, one of the new smartphones from Asus' 2008 line-up, was recently released in India, offering mobile users a wide set of business and multimedia features in a device that wants to compete with Nokia's E90 communicator.

Although it has the same form factor as Nokia E90, Asus M930 is a bit smaller and lighter than Nokia's communicator, weighing 158 grams and measuring 113 x 54 x 18.7 millimeters (as opposed to 210 grams and 132 x 57 x 20 millimeters). Sure, both devices are kind of big when compared to a regular mobile phone, but neither M930 nor E90 can pass as regular.

When closed, Asus M930 only shows a 2 inch display with 240 x 320 pixels and an alphanumeric keypad. When opened, though, the smartphone offers a full QWERTY keyboard and a wider display of 400 x 240 pixels. The rest of the features packed in M930 include Windows Mobile 6.0, tri-band GSM connectivity as well as HSDPA 2100, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, push email, ClearVue document viewer, Windows Media Player, a 2 Megapixel camera with auto focus, USB 2.0, expandable memory and so on.

Mr. Edward Wang, Business Head, Mobile Communication Business, Asus India, said about the newly released handset: "The M930 is Asus' first communicator smartphone which is surprisingly compact when compared to other communicators in the market. Earlier, business professionals needed to carry bulky communicators for executive functions but now they have a better option in the form of the Asus M930. The keyboard layout of the M930 is just like a laptop facilitating quicker and more convenient operation. It is also the only communicator with a web cam that we call , because you can type SMS, listen to music or write e-mails while using the iCAM. Business professionals can also use the iCAM to have a video conference. Asus has always believed in thinking from the customer's point of view and this phone personifies that ideology, leading to the creation of the best smartphone for all end users."

Asus M930 is available as of now across India, for a retail price of 27,900 RNI (the equivalent of 670 USD or 435 Euros).
