Asustek Computer, one of the largest manufacturers of computer components, has just launched new dual-chip Radeon X1600 XT graphics card during a dedicated IT & C exhibition - Computex Taipei 2006, informs X-bit Labs.
It seems that the manufacturer preferred not to reveal too many details regarding the new graphic cards, which are said to resemble other products developed by manufacturers such as Nvidia and HIS.
Asus didn't even mention if it plans to sell them, but, it did reveal that Asus EAX1600 XT Dual graphics card has two Radeon X1600 XT graphics processors and that it uses a proprietary print-circuit board. Asus' graphics card also has two video input/video output (VIVO) connectors, two dual-link DVI, and two D-sub.
X-bit Labs further writes about other similar products - the dual-GPU Radeon X1600 XT graphics card developed by HIS, that will also feature a dedicated TLX bridge chip which has the single purpose of tying up the chips to each other and then connect them to the system. It seems that HIS will launch a special board - Gemini Radeon X1600 XT - that will feature two Radeon X1600 XT chips with 590MHz clock-speed, 256MB of 1380MHz GDDR3 memory per processor, two dual-link DVI outputs and many other capabilities.
Moreover, Nvidia Corporation, the leader in programmable graphics processor technologies, launched yesterday the new NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GX2, which is said to be the world's fastest graphics card, being already available at the company's add-in card partners.
The GeForce 7950 GX2 is said to be able to provide a 72% increase of the power as opposed to other previously released graphics cards. This speed is obtained by the two GeForce 7950 graphics processing units (GPUs) based on one card, plus the Quad NVIDIA SLI technology - allowing all the authorized system builders to benefit from the combined power of two GeForce 7950 GX2 graphic cards supported by four GPUs in order to deliver an unmatched resolution of 2560x1600 in a HD format.
