As PC manufacturers weep and moan due to failing PC sales worldwide, Asus couldn’t be doing better on home grounds, in Taiwan, ChinaTimes reports.

General Manager of Sales for Asustek, Kevil Lin stated that the company managed to beat gloomy expectations and posted a record high share of 45% over the laptop market for the last quarter. With this, the overall estimate for the second half of the year is likely to be more than favorable, especially since the holiday season is approaching.

Also, Asus has released a bunch of new products, which will keep customers’ focus on the company. The PC maker is set to unravel a new convertible model, the Transformer Book T100 plus a 3-in-1 gadget called the Transformer Book Trio TX201. This gizmo will be able to run Android when in tablet mode and Windows 8 when used as a laptop or when connected to an external display.

Lin also went on to mention that Asus currently has a hold of about 40-50% of the Windows 8 laptop and hybrid market. According to him 8 to 10% of mobile computers models have absorbed the operating system.
