Asus has recently launched a slim slider phone in Taiwan, the J501. The handset works on GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz bands and comes with GPRS support.

The Asus J501's feature list includes a 2.2 inch 260k color TFT LCD screen with a 240 x 320 pixel resolution, a 2 megapixel fixed-focus camera, QR barcode support and an FM Radio.

But the feature list does not end here. The most interesting thing about this phone is its capability to double as a Skype phone.

Aside from using it just like any other mobile phone, when you're in a Wi-Fi zone you can also connect to Skype.

It also features Bluetooth for connectivity with A2DP support ensuring that the user will have a wire-free music listening experience and supports MP3, AAC, WAV, MPEG 4 and H.263 file formats.

The internal memory is of only 5 MB which is basically not enough for even one song, therefore for the users to store their MP3's the phone also features a MicroSD card slot for memory expansion with support for up to 2GB memory cards.

The mobile phone measures 103 x 48 x 16.6 mm and weighs 100 grams. It's a pretty nice handset with a lot of multimedia functions allowing the user to do pretty much everything he/she can think of, and save money through Skype calls. It looks like you can find an Asus J501 in Taiwan for the price of NT$9,900 which is approximately $302 USD.
