We reported a few days ago that Asus FonePad would be available for purchase in Taiwan on March 22. However, it looks like the tablet has just gone on pre-order and is expected to hit shelves sometime at the end of the month.

According to Taiwanese publication Focus Taiwan, Asus FonePad tablet is now available for pre-order in the country for $300/€230 outright.

Customers will also be able to grab the FonePad at no additional costs if they agree to commit to a new two-year contract at NT$1,343 ($45/€35) per month with Chunghwa Telecom. Keep in mind that the tablet is available in Titanium Gray and Champagne Gold colors.

Besides Chunghwa Telecom, which is the largest carrier in Taiwan, Asus FonePad will also be available for purchase from several major retailers across the country, such as: Tsann Kuen Enterprise Co., E-Life Mall Corp., Sunfar Computer Co., along with Yahoo and PChome online shopping sites.

Asus FonePad was officially unveiled late last month at the Mobile World Congress 2013, as a phone/tablet hybrid.

The 7-inch tablet provides users with the option to take and make calls, allowing them to double the FonePad as a phone.

Unlike the European version, this variant of Asus FonePad comes equipped with dual cameras: 3-megapixel rear photo snapper and secondary 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.

On the inside, the slate packs a 1.2GHz single-core Intel Atom Z2420 processor, which is complemented by a PowerVR SGX540 graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM.

The FonePad features 8GB or 16GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

In the same piece of news, Asus has also launched its brand new Open Cloud Computing service, which will allow users to share photos and other data among multiple devices, including tablets and smartphones.
