The already famous sub-notebook crosses the continental borders

The cute little notebook PC from Asustek sells extremely well all over the place. US is already under the siege and people keep battling for at least one unit to place under the Christmas Tree. The Eee shopping spree has taken over the Australian continent as well.

The Myer store chain is comprised of 67 stores all over Australia and they have started exclusively selling the Eee rarities. The retail price is situated at AUD$499, but the price does not affect sales at all. Asustek claims that they are continually selling an Eee unit each six seconds and they still can not provide enough pieces to even the wild demand on the market.

The Australian Eee PC crisis is identical to what happened in the United States, when people have literally kicked one another in order to grab a piece. The low-end PC is already regarded as a Linux Messiah. Running a customized, user-friendly Linux distribution called Xandros OS, Asustek's notebook is regarded as the computer to bring Linux to the masses. There is no report to clearly state whether it's the miniature shape or the OS that drives people wild, though.

Asus promised that they would launch a Windows version of the Eee, but there are rumors that anybody can install Windows or the more exotic MacOS X onto the Eee notebook, with more or less chances to succeed. Anyway, the company said that an Eee PC fully compatible with Windows will be available by the end of the month.

Romania has not been spared by Asustek's sub-notebook invasion. The country's greatest retailer, Media Galaxy, have included the Eee PC in their latest promotional flier and they have started taking orders on the website. Romania's lightest (0,9 kilograms) and cheapest laptop is already on sale, but beware - the retailer has already made it clear that there is a limited stock. The bad news is that Romanian scores don't match the US and the laptop is available to Romanians for as much as 1149 RON, or $478.
