Asus just announced yet another graphics card based on a Nvidia graphics processing units that is aimed at overclockers, the EN8600GT TOP/HTDP/256M, that continues the line of products initiated with the launch of the OC Gear card and accessories. The new Asus graphics card comes from the factory with faster stream processing units as well as upgraded memory modules and thanks to these features users may achieve up to 40 percent improvement in gaming and other graphics intensive tasks, while the integrated SmartDoctor technology will allow the adjustment and monitoring of all card features.

One of the most important technical innovations that was implemented into the GeForce 8 series of graphics processor units is the presence of the stream processing units that are used to dynamically allocate processing power according to the general workload level. In order to boost the entire performance of the graphics sub-system, Asus allows users to overclock these stream processing units from the stock frequency of 1188MHz to an incredible 1458MHz. The second most important innovation that was included into this new line of Graphics cards from Asus is the presence of the very fast upgraded memory modules.

On the software side the presence of the Asus specially designed SmartDoctor monitoring and overclocking utility allows users to easily and safely increase the speed of the stream processors, graphics processing unit and memory modules. All new settings can be applied without rebooting the computer system or reflashing the video BIOS.

Like all overclocking intended graphics cards, the Asus EN8600GT TOP comes with an improved stock active cooling system that is offering an increased surface area for a more effective heat dissipation. According to the manufacturing company, this new cooling solution design can lower temperatures by 13?C in comparison to reference design boards.

The new Asus graphics card is based on the Nvidia GeForce 8600GT graphics processing unit and it uses 256MB of DDR3 video memory that is clocked at 1008MHz, while sporting a 128-bit wide interface between it and the GPU. The engine clock comes with a standard running frequency of 600Mhz, while the shader clock is factory raised to 1458MHz. Allowing for a maximum resolution of 2048x1536, this new Asus graphics card is using the PCI Express system bus and it also comes with integrated D-Sub, DVI, HDTV and TV outputs.
