If you expected a 3G version of the Transformer Prime to come your way this quarter, you should start looking elsewhere for your mobile broadband tablet needs.

After a couple of weeks ago a website published a report that stated Asus is preparing a 3G-equipped Prime, the outfit has come out to put these rumors to rest once and for all.

The statement, which was spotted by Focus Taiwan, is quite clear in this aspect and says that "no such product exists on its current roadmap."

The company did however mentioned that it expects to launch 3G models for other high-end products in the Transformer family, which seems to imply that the recently unveiled Transformer TF700T will actually feature mobile broadband capabilities.

Asus hasn’t reveled why it doesn’t have plans for a 3G-equipped Transformer Prime, but if I were to guess I would say that all those wireless interferences caused by the metallic back (that also cause the GPS to perform so poorly) are to blame.
