Many of you remember that Asus confirmed back in March that it would provide Android 5.0 Lollipop updates for its mid-range Zenfone lineup sometime in April.

The company even released a beta version of Lollipop for Zenfone 4, 5 and 6, but April came and went and the final build hasn't been delivered yet.

Last month, Asus announced that it would finally offer the long-awaited Android 5.0 Lollipop update for all the smartphones mentioned earlier, as well as PadFone S, in mid-May and June, respectively.

Unfortunately, the handset maker missed that deadline too and made another announcement today, which you're not going to like if you own an older Zenfone smartphone.

According to Asus, Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Zenfone 4, 5 and 6, as well as PadFone S, which should have been released in mid-May, has been delayed.

No ETA has been given for the release of the upgrade, but Asus shared some details on the reasons behind the delay.

Some issues found during verification are to blame for the delay

It looks like Asus' engineers have found some issues during verification, which forced them to delay the Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade so they can provide better user experience. The good news is the team is now working to fix these issues and will release the update as soon as possible.

This means that Android 5.0 Lollipop could arrive any time on Zenfone 4, 5 and 6, as well as PadFone S, since there's no schedule available yet.

In other news, the company also announced that due to limitation of the processor of The New Padfone Infinity (A86), Android 5.0 Lollipop has been canceled.

Unfortunately, those who own this device won't be getting the latest version of Android, but Asus promised that they would keep providing software upgrades based on Android 4.4 KitKat operating system.
