Still, he doesn't rule out supporting Windows 10 Mobile

Asus has never been a strong partner for Microsoft when it comes to Windows Phone. The company hasn't yet released a smartphone powered by Windows Phone and by the looks of it that might not happen too soon.

Even with Windows 10 Mobile just around the corner, Asus doesn't think Microsoft's mobile platform is meant for small screens.

In an interview for Mashable, the company's chairman Jonney Shih said that the advantage of Windows over other platforms is the fact that it offers both productivity and entertainment at the same time.

However, that advantage doesn't qualify for smaller screens where iOS and Android offer just about the same level of productivity and entertainment.

“The advantage of Windows is productivity and entertainment at the same time. The advantage [of Windows on phones] is not that much [when compared to iOS and Android], frankly speaking,” said Jonney Shih.

Continuum might help Windows Phone differentiate from Android and iOS

Although Microsoft is now changing under the new leadership of Satya Nadella, Asus' chairman doesn't feel that there's enough reason to start supporting the Redmond-based mobile platform yet.

According to Shih, Asus will continue to stay in the same zone where it can appeal tons of potential consumers who don't want to pay too much for powerful devices, and that's Android.

Still, Jonney Shih did not want to rule out completely the chance of supporting Windows 10 Mobile in the future, but for the time being this is not among his company's top priorities.

On the other hand, Asus will continue to launch laptops, two-in-one and desktops which are more fit for Windows, “The screen size [of a the 10-inch Transformer Chi] is big enough to be worth it to really drive [multitasking].”

So there you have it folks, don't expect an Asus smartphone powered by Windows Phone anytime soon because this doesn't seem to be on the company's priority list for the moment.
