Asus has just announced special promotion that offers Battlefield 3 free of charge as part of a bundle to users who purchase select Asus hardware products, more specifically the company's GTX 560 Ti DirectCU II TOP or the Xonar D2X PCI-Express sound card.

Both of these parts are shipped together with a special coupon that enables Asus customers to download the full version of DICE's latest first person shooter.

The promotion is valid only in some select countries (Asus recommends its customers to check with their local dealer or retailer) and the game must be downloaded before December 31, 2012.

The GeForce GTX 560 Ti DirectCU II TOP is definitely a nice companion for Battlefield 3 as the graphics card has its core overclocked to 900MHz from Nvidia's reference frequency of 820MHz, while the GDDR5 memory works at 1050MHz (4200MHz effective).

Asus' unique DirectCU II cooler, that uses direct contact heaptipes and two large fans for cooling the GPU, is also said to keep the card 20% cooler than the reference heatsink while also providing a silent computing experience.

The other product to come bundled with Battlefield 3 is Xonar D2X PCI-Express 7.1 channel sound card that is based on an Asus AV200 audio processor, derived from the C-Media CMI8788 OxygenHD.

This is paired together with four TI Burr-Brown PCM1796 output DACs and a Cirrus-Logic CS5381 mic/line input ADC.

Thanks to this powerful hardware, Asus' audio card can provide an signal-noise ratio of 118 dBA and supports all PCM output resolutions, including 24-bit 192 KHz.

Pricing for the bundle was not disclosed, but the regular version of the GTX 560 Ti DirectCU II TOP has an MSRP of $249.99 (181 EUR), while the Xonar D2X audio card is retailed for $189.99 (137 EUR).
