The P3xx is alive!

If you remember, about a week ago we got to see the leaked photo of an Asus handheld then called the P3xx. Now we've got our hands on some more info concerning this subject and we know it will arrive on the market under the name of Asus Aries.

You'll be glad to know the rumors were true and it actually runs a Windows Mobile 6 Standard (for the ones of you that don't know it yet, this is Microsoft's smartphone version of their OS) operating system and they forgot all about WM5.

Apart from that, this device also features a tri-band UMTS radio and this means the Aries will be capable of operating on 850, 1900 and 2100 MHz networks, a fact that somewhat makes a handset with global coverage.

Its spec sheet presents it as a tri-band GSM handheld working on 900/1800/1900 MHz networks and mentions its Intel Xscale processor running at 520 MHz, a 2.8 inch 65k colors TFT LCD display with a 320x240 pixels resolution, 256 MB of ROM and 64 MB of RAM built-in memory, Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR profile, Wi-Fi 802.11g WLAN connectivity, a microSD memory expansion card slot, miniUSB 1.1, multi-slot GPRS Class 10 data transfer technology, a QWERTY full featured keyboard, side scroll-wheel, a 2 megapixel digital camera and a secondary VGA one for video calls.

This is about everything I could gather from all the different sources I stumbled upon on the web and I have to say this device looks pretty good if you're a smartphone addict waiting for a 3G powered beast to fulfill your wettest dreams.

There is no info on the release date or the price tag available at the moment so it seems we'll have to wait until Asus will decide it's time to officially launch it.
