Asus has just announced it is gearing up to launch the Transformer Book T100 in the near future. This device will be a hybrid between a tablet and a laptop and will come at a super convenient price of $349/ €263.

Chief executive Jonney Shih reportedly introduced the new 2-in-1 gadget himself at the Intel Developer Forum, calling it a “zero compromise” Windows 8.1 machine:

“This is our game changer for the trend mobile lifestylers.”

The laptop features a detachable keyboard so it can easily be transformed into a Windows tablet.

Under the hood the tablet packs a quad-core Intel “Bay Trail” processor, plus 2GB of RAM. Users can opt for 32GB or 64GB in the storage department.

The device ships with Microsoft Office 2013 pre-installed on it, hinting that the Transformer Book T100 can be used for both work and play.

The resolution of the screen is set at 1366 x 768 with a 178-degree viewing angle. The translation? It means you and your friend can both look at it at the same time.

There’s also a microSD card slot, a 1.2-megapixel camera, micro USB port, a micro-HDMI port and a micro-SD card reader.

The laptop-tablet will enjoy a powerful battery that will allow for up to 11 hours of active use “so you never have to stop working.”

Price wise, as stated above, the 32GB version of the Transformer Book T100 has been set at $349 / €263, while the 64GB version will be available for $399 / €300.
