After revealing the Phonepad tablet / smartphone combo, Asus is back with another tablet, the Eee Pad MeMO 3D.

Initially showcased during the 2011 Consumer Electonics Show (CES), the tablet received a total hardware make over and is said to hit stores with 3D technology on board.

The Eee Pad MeMO 3D features a 7-inch glasses-free 3D IPS multi-touch screen (1024 x 600 pixels resolution) and runs Google's Android Honeycomb platform.

This is the fourth tablet introduced by Asus at the Computex 2011, along with Eee Pad Transformer, Eee Pad Slider and Eee Slate.

The Eee Pad MeMO 3D is designed to be an alternative take on the 10-inch tablet that is fast becoming a standard size. This portrait-oriented device uses a screen that can also be used more traditionally with all Android Honeycomb applications, should users choose to do so,” said Asus Chairman, Jonney Shih.

Furthermore, the tablet is delivered with a special stylus that can be used for note taking in portrait orientation, as well as a unique glasses-free 3D display mode for entertainment on the go.

It appears that the tablet has GSM voice communications capabilities, as users will be able to take phone calls thanks to the included MeMIC companion headset for music and voice calls.

The bundled MeMIC Bluetooth hands-free headset makes it ideal for listening to music and making calls, while flipping the MeMO 3D into landscape turns it into a glasses-free 3D display that adds a new dimension to mobile entertainment. Consumers can enjoy movies, games and photos in 3D, all from the palm of their hand,” concluded Jonney Shih.

There's no information regarding the device's price tag and release date, but it appears that the Eee Pad MeMO 3D will be an interesting alternative to HTC's Flyer and LG-made G-Slate.
