Later this year, the National Geographic Channel will begin to air a late night talk show hosted by renowned astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson. The show, dubbed Star Talk, is scheduled to premiere sometime in April.

This late night talk show is not the astrophysicist's first collaboration with the National Geographic Channel. Thus, Neil deGrasse Tyson and the American television channel previously worked together on “Cosmos: A Space Time Journey.”

Star Talk promises to be an entertaining show

It is understood that this late night talk show that astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson and the National Geographic Channel are now working on will boil down to discussing the latest developments in the field of space exploration, Space informs.

Since science will be the topic of the day, brainiacs will often be welcome on the show. What's interesting is that comedians, actors and other celebrities will too be invited, and quite often. The idea is to make Star Talk appealing to the general public.

“The new series will bridge the intersection between pop culture and science as it brings together celebrities, comedians and scientists to discuss the latest developments in our vast universe,” the National Geographic Channel explains in a statement.

“Each week, Tyson and his fellow guests will explore a variety of cosmic topics, including space travel, extraterrestrial life, the Big Bang, the future of Earth and the environment and breaking news from the universe,” the network goes on to detail.

Just to give people a better idea of what the talk show will be like, the television channel says that the series will be based on the astrophysicist's podcast with the same name, which Neil deGrasse Tyson recently described as a mixture of science, pop culture and comedy.

You might just make it on the show yourself

The talk show, which represents a first for the National Geographic Channel, will be filmed at the American Museum of Natural History's Hayden Planetarium in New York City, US, in front of a studio audience. What this means is that, with a little bit of luck, you might make it on the show yourself.

For the time being, it is unclear when exactly the show will premiere. Still, you can be sure that, as soon as an official release day is announced, you will learn about it here.
