Hadfield has become quite popular during his stay aboard the ISS

When you've spent five months in space, doing Reddit AMAs, shooting music videos, and taking thousands of breathtaking photos, there's really not that much more to look forward to, as an astronaut at least.

That seems to be what everyone's favorite Canadian, Chris Hadfield, is thinking. Having returned from a lengthy stay aboard the International Space Station recently, he has now announced his retirement from the Canadian Space Agency.

This way, he's living up to a promise he made his wife 30 years ago, he says, to move back to Canada once all this is over.

After a career as a fighter pilot, then a test pilot, and eventually an astronaut, he doesn't have much to prove and will welcome some peace and relaxation.

But someone like Hadfield doesn't stay put for long. Still, he says he has no plans for now, he's just focused on recovering physically from his stay in space.
