If you are the type of gamers that likes playing your favorite games late into the night but don't want to siturb anyone or give up on surround sound, then the Astro Gaming MixAmp 5.8 may be just the thing for you since this wireless solution can deliver 7.1 channel sound to any compatible headset without letting wires get between your and your PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 console.

In order to do so, the MixAmp 5.8 uses both transmitter and a receiver unit that communicate throughout the 5.8Ghz radio frequency, meaning that you will get a interference free connection, 2.4GHz devices such as wireless mice and keyboards not being affected by Astro's MixAmp.

Setup is pretty easy, the transmitter being compatible with the PlayStation 3 as well as the Xbox 360 console while the receiver connects to your headset, delivering Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound.

Furthermore, a point-to-multipoint pairing mode allows up to four receivers to be paired with a transmitter, providing support for up four simultaneous users with four independent voice streams on XBox 360, and two independent voice streams on PlayStation 3.

Off course that a bass expander mode could not miss from the specs list, the company also stating this is tuned with Astro Audio technology, “to get the most out of games and other forms of media.”

The receivers work with three regular type AAA batteries, although Astro allows its users to purchase the MixAmp with a rechargeable battery if you are willing to throw another $19.95 in.

An additional Rx unit will set you back $49.95, if you decide to go that route, while an optical cable as well as a PS3 chat cable are also available as optionals.

The Astro MixAmp 5.8 will be available this November, but you can also pre-order the device now for $99.95, if you decide that you can't live without it.

This is also available as a bundle with Astro's A30 and A40 headsets for $199.95 and $249.95, respectively.
