When it comes to headsets and other gaming oriented audio equipment, Astro is one of the most well renowned names in the industry, so, many will rejoice when hearing that the company has launched a new version of its popular A40 headset.

Officially dubbed the A40 2011 Edition, this new gaming headset builds on the success of its predecessor and adds improved ear pads and a new microphone to the mix.

This means that the A40 2011 Edition features the same 40mm drivers that deliver great sound and powerful bass as well as the company's own Quick Disconnect cabling system.

Just as before, the headset is compatible with a wide selection of gaming systems, including PC, Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, and it can be used as it is or with the MixAmp or wireless MixAmp 5.8 amplifiers.

“Astro Gaming is stoked with excitement about our release of the 2011 Edition of the award-winning A40 Gaming Headset,” wrote Stan Press, community marketing manager at Astro Gaming, on the company's official blog.

“Coming in the classic white and black colors, the Astro team listened to the MLG pro players and hardcore gamers alike to add the features they’ve been asking for.

Still sporting 40mm drivers perfectly tuned with Astro Audio, the A40 2011 Edition delivers every detail of your gaming, movie, or music experience so you can game like a pro more than ever before,” concluded the company's rep.

The A40 2011 Edition is ready to ship starting today on all A40 Headsets, A40 Audio Systems and A40 Wireless Systems.

In addition, an upgrade kit will also be available in the not so distant future, comprised of the new ear pads and the new microphone, enabling all A40 owners to take advantage of the latest enhancements to the A40 product line without buying a new headset.
