France-based video-game publisher Ubisoft has announced that it has posted better than expected financial results for the third calendar quarter of 2010, with the performance fueled by the strong sales enjoyed by both Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and the Just Dance series.

Sales for the quarter which ended on December 31, 2010, have managed to grow to 600 million Euros, which is the equivalent of a little over 809 million dollars, an impressive 21 percent more than during the same period in 2009.

Ubisoft says that Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood has managed to move 6.5 million copies to gamers, which is impressive considering the fact that the publisher has not delivered versions of the game for handheld devices.

The company also says that its dancing line up, which includes Just Dance, Just Dance 2, Just Dance Kids, Michael Jackson: The Experience and Dance on Broadway, has seen sales of more than 10.5 million units, mainly to casual gamers that would not be otherwise interested in gaming on a home console.

Yves Guillemot, who is the chief executive officer of Ubisoft, has stated, “What we see is consumers want more and more songs so that they can play the experience more and more. We don't see yet a limit of what they can take from this genre. There's a good chance this dancing segment will be very strong during four or five years.”

Ubisoft has warned that during the first quarter of 2011 it will have less impressive results, mainly because it has a lower number of games ready for release.

But the CEO also said that a whole new Assassin's Creed video game would be launched before the end of March 2012, in addition tot he Nintendo 3DS handheld game that is being prepared for March.

The company also talked about other big announcements that could be made before the summer of this year.
