Given the company's track record, this could s-s-s-pell trouble

There seems to be evidence supporting the rumor that Ubisoft Kiev is in charge of delivering the PC versions of both Far Cry 4 and Assassin's Creed Unity.

The information has been outed on the Ubisoft Kiev Facebook page, where the team has mentioned that they are working hard in order to ship the best PC experience to fans of the two legendary franchises, and that the company is currently expanding and hiring new talent.

Ubisoft Kiev was responsible for many PC ports in the past, including Assassin's Creed III, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier.

The bad news is that pretty much all of their games have been plagued by performance issues, something that has been registered as a red flag throughout the gaming community.

Ignoring Ubisoft's publicly proclaimed disdain for the PC market and the shenanigans they pulled with Anno 2070, suggesting that their always online DRM solution and the installation limit severely impacted the rate of piracy, and then saying that they didn't bother with PC versions all that much because 95 percent of users pirated the games, this is still something to be wary of.

Far Cry 3 was one of the best PC editions of any modern game, chiefly because the game was developed with PC as its main platform. That, however, did not prevent the game from acting like a donkey at launch, and it took several patches until it was docile and running properly, in spite of its wealth of performance options.

The fact that the PC version of Far Cry 4 is not being handled by Ubisoft's main studio could spell out trouble, and is indicative of the fact that Far Cry 4 will likely be a console port, which pretty much means that PC users will experience a lot of issues with it, such as the many problems reported with the company's latest big release, Watch Dogs.

This, however, also means that Ubisoft Kiev has a chance to redeem its bad name, and to implement PC options similar to the ones featured in Far Cry 3, a much more PC-friendly game than Watch Dogs.

The studio has a lot more experience now than it did when it started out, so it should be able to create a good PC version of the two games it's reportedly working on.

Assassin's Creed Unity is coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms on October 28, and Far Cry 4 is coming out on November 18, to PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Windows PC.
