The level of violence needs to be low to appeal to many gamers

Dan Jeannotte, who is set to play the main character in the new Assassin’s Creed: Unity title, says that even in a world filled with violence and the threat of the guillotine, gamers will be unable to execute actual decapitations on their enemies during gameplay sequences.

This means that these kinds of gruesome deaths will remain restricted to the cutscenes of the Ubisoft title, as already seen in the recently launched video that was directed by Rob Zombie.

The actor says that “The marketing guys are telling me ‘no, no it is not possible’.”

The mention of the marketing department of Ubisoft probably means that the company is keen to make sure that Assassin’s Creed: Unity reaches as many players as possible, which would be hard if a Mature rating is imposed on it for having too much violence.

Decapitations during gameplay are probably where the ratings board are drawing a line in the sand, and the company does not want to be forced to make modifications to its game and then send it in to be evaluated again.

Dan Jeannotte has also offered a brief but comprehensive evaluation of the character he is portraying, saying that he is “very sharp and sarcastic, which sets him apart. He’s a very independent and a critical thinker, questioning the motives and methods of authority.”

Assassin’s Creed: Unity will take fans of the series to the early days of the French Revolution, one of the moments that has shaped the history of the world.

Arno Dorian is involved with the most important events of the uprising, and he quickly discovers that mysterious forces are trying to influence the outcome and to twist the wills of the people of Paris.

The core parkour elements of series will be once again in focus, but Ubisoft has also promised that it has enhanced combat and offered gamers more opportunities to explore the world.

For the first time, the game also introduces cooperative play for up to four gamers, designed to allow each to work on his own or for all to join forces as a team.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity will be launched on the PC, the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony on October 28 of this year.

At the same time, Ubisoft is working on a new title in the franchise for last-gen consoles, but so far, no details about it have been offered.
