Ubisoft and Nvidia reveal that the upcoming Assassin's Creed Unity action adventure title makes full use of plenty of clever technologies on the PC platform to ensure great visuals and smooth performance on graphics cards made by the large corporation, and they have even rolled out a video showcasing it in action.

Assassin's Creed Unity is this year's big new installment in the series, and developer Ubisoft Montreal has made sure to showcase its ambitious features, from the large open world of Paris during the French Revolution to the seamless drop-in drop-out cooperative mode, the overhauled combat, exploration, and stealth mechanics, and much more.

While all the aforementioned features are available across all platforms, on the PC, the studio is taking things further, thanks to the help it's received from Nvidia, a traditional partner for the Ubisoft team.

Nvidia once again teams up with Ubisoft for Unity

According to the latest GeForce blog post, the two companies were keen on continuing the partnership they started a few years ago, and as a result, Assassin's Creed Unity makes full use of different GameWorks technologies to ensure that it looks as great as possible on PCs equipped with Nvidia graphics cards.

"On PC, you’ll receive the definitive experience thanks to our partnership with Ubisoft, which has enabled us to integrate several Nvidia GameWorks technologies that greatly enhance the graphical fidelity and realism of French Revolution-era Paris," the company reveals.

Many mechanics have been added to the PC edition

Among the different mechanics added to the PC version of Unity is HBAO+, which makes the ambient occlusion system look even better, thereby improving the whole quality of the image in every scene. There's also the new Percentage-Closer Soft Shadows tech that ensures shadows look as great as possible when colliding with other objects. When these two elements are combined with the advanced tessellation, things look even better, according to Nvidia.

"Nvidia GeometryWorks Advanced Tessellation adds real DirectX 11-powered geometric detail to roads, rooftops, buildings, and many more game elements, improving the realism and detail level of almost every game scene. Furthermore, with the addition of real geometric detail, enhanced surfaces and objects can be accurately shaded and shadowed by HBAO+ and PCSS, increasing realism and graphical fidelity by an even greater degree," Nvidia adds.

Last but not least, there's also the TXAA anti-aliasing method that ensures great performance at a lower cost in terms of power.

Besides these features, a variety of other PC-specific improvements have been added to Unity, including better textures, visual effects, and character models, not to mention a better framerate, support of up to 4K resolution, and more.
