The development team at Ubisoft has delivered a new trailer for Assassin’s Creed Unity which suggests that gamers who start out exploring the French Revolution might at one point be forced to navigate the city of Paris in a very different time period.

The footage is rather brief and mentions that the entire simulation of the city in the late XVIII century will at one point collapse and Arno will be affected by a time anomaly which will throw him into the XX century.

The trailer for Assassin’s Creed Unity then shows the Eiffel Tower surrounded by what seem to be Nazi zeppelins, which might suggest a move to World War II or to an alternate reality that features a conflict between Germany and France.

It’s unclear how extensive the missions set in the new time period will be or whether there are connections with a future title in the franchise which will use the same setting.

Assassin’s Creed Unity is already a complex video game and it will be interesting to see how the fan base reacts to the revelation that the series now basically features time travel.

An open world with more options than ever

Assassin’s Creed Unity keeps the core open world structure of the previous titles in the franchise, and for the first time in the series, it allows gamers to form four-player groups in order to tackle all missions using new cooperative mechanics.

Paris will be simulated to resemble the actual city of the period as closely as possible, and the development team at Ubisoft has promised more realistic behavior for all NPCs, a lot more side quests and new tools for the player to use in combat and when exploring the city.

Assassin’s Creed Unity will be out on November 11 in the United States and on November 13 in Europe and can be played on the PC, the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony.

Gamers can also get access to a Season Pass which includes a new Dead Kings campaign, which will take place in Saints Dennis, and the Chronicles: China title, which will star Shao Jun from Assassin’s Creed Embers and will use 2.5D mechanics.

A new title called Rogue will be offered on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 and is designed to allow gamers to control a Templar for the first time, with mechanics built around fear and a story which will have a connection with Unity.
