The development team at Ubisoft in charge of Assassin's Creed: Unity is delivering a new story-focused trailer for the upcoming open world title which is designed to show a new Templar character called Elise, who will be an important part of the narrative.

The company says that the new footage shows protagonist Arno racing through Paris in order to save the new character, characterized as "an independent young noblewoman, Elise is determined to secure her place in the Templar dynasty amidst the chaos of the French Revolution. Her quest leads her to cross paths with Arno and establish an unlikely bond with him."

The video is full of action and emphasizes the impressive graphics of Assassin's Creed: Unity and the way the developers have managed to bring Paris to life for their title.

At the same time, the publisher announces that Elise will be the star of a new novel set in the world of the video game, created by Oliver Bowden and set to be published by Random House.

The company adds that it "examines an era when the divide between the rich and poor is at its most extreme, and a nation is tearing itself apart. Told from Elise’s perspective, the book follows her and Arno as they are drawn into the centuries-old battle between the Assassins and the Templars – a world with dangers more deadly than they could ever have imagined - and fight to avenge all they have lost."

Ubisoft also announces that a high quality figurine based on Elise, called The Fiery Templar, can be now ordered by fans of Assassin's Creed: Unity and can be used to create a diorama by those who also have the Arno: The Fearless Assassin figurine.

The Elise toy will also include unspecified additional digital content for the video game, which will probably receive more details at a later date.

The new novel based on Assassin's Creed: Unity will be launched at some point in November, and the video game itself will be offered to gamers on October 28 of this year, on the PC, the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony.

Since the game was announced, Ubisoft was criticized for its lack of female characters, and the reveal of Elise and the important part she plays in the story might be a way for the company to earn back the trust of its fan base.
