The development team at Ubisoft working on Assassin's Creed: Unity is using Bastille Day, the official national celebration of France, to launch a new gameplay trailer for its upcoming title, which will take gamers back to the time of the Revolution in order to allow them to contribute to the storming of the famous jail and the subsequent change of regime.

The team explains that gamers will be able to experience "completely redesigned gameplay in Assassin's Creed Unity including a reinvented combat system, enhanced stealth techniques, and brand new parkour mechanics. Make History and leave your mark on the French Revolution."

The storming of the Bastille is the core event of the French Revolution and is celebrated in France every year, so Ubisoft has been smart to co-opt the occasion in order to deliver a new look at the game.

The company has promised to introduce a number of innovations to the coming experience, and cooperative gameplay will be one of the core features for the first time in the history of the franchise.

Assassin's Creed: Unity will be out on the Xbox One from Microsoft, the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the PC on October 28 of this year.

A current-gen only title in the series will also be launched this fall.
