Ubisoft has shared even more details about Assassin's Creed Unity, emphasizing that there will be plenty of unpredictable moments throughout the story, thanks to the missions based on real-life events that happened during the French Revolution.

Assassin's Creed Unity is this year's big new iteration in the popular series made by Ubisoft's collective development teams and promises to bring a lot of massive improvements to the whole franchise recipe.

These include the French Revolution setting, the new protagonist called Arno Dorian, as well as quite a lot of overhauls for the combat, climbing, and exploration mechanics.

Of course, seeing as how it's located in a brand new historical setting, Unity will present plenty of fresh stories that are unrelated to previous installments.

According to Ubisoft's Team Historian, Maxime Durand, the missions and the story in Unity is quite unpredictable, largely due to the hectic events that actually happened during the French Revolution.

"It won’t be easy for fans to say: This is what’s going to happen in Assassin’s Creed," Durand told the Ubiblog. "There are so many different possibilities. The fans will probably try to predict what we’re going to do with the game, but it’s going to be really hard for them."

"They’re not just generic missions. Every single one has a very specific thing that actually happened during that period or a person who actually existed."

What's more, one of the iconic elements of the French Revolution – the guillotine – will also be accurately represented in Unity.

Durand explained that the device was originally envisioned as a "humane" way to execute nobility, as hanging was considered a fate more deserving for commoners, as it caused prolonged suffering. However, during the revolution, such executions were carried out every day and without much discrimination.

"The guillotine became a tool of terror," Durand added. "People were afraid. At some points they were afraid to talk and show their position. The further into the Revolution it got, if you had a different opinion than the majority, you went to the guillotine."

"There’s a reason they call it The Terror. People genuinely were terrorized. Everybody was fighting for their life on some level. If your belief went out of fashion, you were done. At the drop of a hat, you got condemned to death."

Assassin's Creed Unity is set to debut later this fall exclusive for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One platforms, as Ubisoft explained several times that the title is only possible on the powerful devices, and not on PS3 or Xbox 360.
