Ubisoft has emphasized that its upcoming Assassin's Creed Unity title can't be done on the last-gen consoles (PS3 or Xbox 360), but it also mentioned that it will make an announcement for owners of those platforms soon.

Assassin's Creed Unity was revealed earlier this year as a new iteration in the action adventure series developed specifically for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One platforms.

Using the power of the new devices, Ubisoft has been able to implement a four-player cooperative mode into the game as well as plenty of different improvements to the environment, animations, and much more.

While talking with GameSpot, Ubisoft's Tony Key has emphasized that Unity is only possible on the new platforms.

"Assassin's Creed Unity is a next-gen game. It's built for next-gen; it can't be done on current-gen, at least we haven't figured out how and we're not trying to," Key said.

However, at the same time, Key didn't want to upset PS3 or Xbox 360 owners, and mentioned that Ubisoft would be making an announcement for them soon.

"Yeah, there's plenty of current-gen Assassin's Creed fans out there. We hope to be able to talk to them about that soon," Key added.

After Unity's confirmation, a second Assassin's Creed game, codenamed Comet, was reported online but has yet to be announced by Ubisoft. You can expect to hear more probably at this summer's next big event, Gamescom 2014 in August.
