Ubisoft has issued yet another statement concerning the performance of its upcoming Assassin's Creed Unity title, this time saying that the 900p resolution and 30fps framerate aren't final and that they could improve ahead or after the game's actual launch.

Assassin's Creed Unity was among the biggest holiday releases for quite a lot of franchise fans, as many were looking forward to the new action adventure title from Ubisoft. The company itself heavily hyped up the game's overhauled mechanics when it came to exploration, combat, or stealth, while also pushing forward videos that showed stellar visuals and quality.

However, many gamers were disappointed to hear earlier today that Unity runs only at a 900p native resolution and a 30fps framerate, as Ubisoft has confirmed that it's locked the performance on both the PS4 and Xbox One so that there won't be any debate.

Ubisoft now says the aforementioned specs aren't final

This sparked a controversy, and after releasing a statement saying that the company didn't artificially lower the game's performance on PS4 or Xbox One so that the two versions are similar, a new reveal has just appeared.

More specifically, a Ubisoft representative tells Eurogamer that the 900p resolution and 30fps framerate aren't final and that they only reflect the performance of the latest build that was shown to media representatives last week.

"Final specs for Assassin's Creed Unity aren't cemented yet, but we can say we showed Assassin's Creed Unity at 900p during our hands-on preview event last week. We're confident that gamers will be thrilled with the gorgeous graphics and how Paris is brought to life in Assassin's Creed Unity," Ubisoft says.

The game will be the best looking in the series

The representative also emphasizes that, no matter the actual figures, Unity will be the best looking game in the Assassin's Creed series, thanks to the new engine and many improvements made to the core recipe.

"The development team has been hard at work delivering the best Assassin's Creed possible on next generation consoles. Regardless of which platform you're playing on, Assassin's Creed Unity will answer what an Assassin's Creed game built from the ground up for the next generation of gaming looks like and will be the best looking Assassin's Creed game ever developed," he adds.

Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, last year's entry in the series, also ran originally at 900p and 30fps, but thanks to a day-one update for the PS4 version, it was improved to 1080p. It's unclear if Unity might follow a similar path, but you can expect to hear more soon enough.

Unity launches on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on November 11 in North America and November 13 in Europe.
