Enemies will also be able to use their abilities

The development team at Ubisoft working on Assassin's Creed Syndicate confirms that the carriages, trains and boats that will be included in the title are introducing a set of new mechanics for the series, which will be crucial for its future.

Marc-Alexis Cote, the creative director, is quoted by Games Radar as saying that "Any carriage that the player can see, they can interact with. They can hop on top of boats and trains to manipulate them to their advantage. Vehicles are so intrinsic to the gameplay experience that they will profoundly change the way people play the game."

The fact that Assassin's Creed Syndicate makes the move to Victorian London means that gamers will no longer focus on moving using their own strength and can place their trust in carriages, either to ride inside them or use them to launch into platform-based exploration.

The vehicles can also be used as hiding places, which makes them important for the player who wants to stay out of sight after a mission goes wrong.

Assassin's Creed Syndicate will also improve the way the Artificial Intelligence of the enemies works and they will have enough initiative to actually commandeer a carriage, chase the protagonists and then jump across to launch a combat sequence.

Two main characters will anchor the new story

The developers have said that gamers will need to deal with two protagonists, Jacob and Evie Frye, who will have different sets of skills that will determine which missions they will be able to tackle.

Victorian London is dominated by Templars, and the pair will have to use their own gang and careful strikes to gain control.

Ubisoft is promising a better combat system, with enemies who attack more than one at a time and reduced latency.

There are more options planned for city exploration, and the game world is about one third bigger than that of Unity.

Assassin's Creed Syndicate will be out on October 23 on the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the Xbox One from Microsoft.

A version for the PC will be introduced later, but no date has been mentioned by Ubisoft.
