After a number of leaks, the development team at Ubisoft is ready to officially announce that it is working on a new Assassin's Creed title called Rogue, which is set to be launched on November 11 of this year on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony.

The game takes place in the XVIII century in the period of the Seven Years War and will allow gamers to travel to a range of locations in North America, including the Appalachian River Valley and New York as well as the frozen North Atlantic.

Players will take on the role of a Templar called Shay Patrick Cormac who is betrayed by his brethren and needs to become an Assassin hunter.

The game will continue to offer the classic open world experience of the series, but it will also expand the naval battle elements introduced in Black Flag, offering gamers access to a new ship called the Morrigan.

Martin Capel, the game director at Ubisoft Sofia, is quoted as saying that, "We know that there are many Assassin’s Creed fans with Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles who want to get their hands on a new Assassin’s Creed game this year."

He adds, "Assassin’s Creed Rogue completes the North American saga started with Assassin’s Creed III and Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag and gives previous generation console owners an exclusive opportunity to experience fan-requested features, such as playing as a Templar."

The development team is saying that Rogue will be the darkest title in the history of Assassin's Creed and that fans will be able to get information about the lore of the universe and the motivations of its main organizations.

As a Templar, the new protagonist will be able to use a powerful and deadly air rifle which can take out enemies at long range and can use a variety of ammunition to also distract groups or sow confusion.

An enhanced version of the Eagle Vision will allow players to scan his surroundings and find out where Assassin's enemies are hiding.

The naval side of Assassin's Cree Rogue will include enemy ships that can board the gamer's Morrigan using complex tactics and new weapons that can be used during engagements, including boiling oil and the puckle gun.

Gamers will also be able to ram icebergs to gain loot and to break through ice to move closer to enemy ships before attacking them.
