After a leak last week, Ubisoft has confirmed that it's going to bring Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation from the PS Vita onto the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 in the form of an HD version that will be launched in 2014.

Assassin's Creed 3 appeared for the PC, PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U last year and was accompanied by a standalone game for the PlayStation Vita called Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation, which had a new protagonist – Aveline – and took place in a similar time frame.

Now, after lots of feedback from franchise fans, Ubisoft has tasked its Sofia studio with adapting the game onto the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, in the form of a new Assassin's Creed Liberation HD iteration.

The whole game was reworked into the AnvilNext engine that powered Assassin's Creed 3, and this upgrade means that the environments in the game, from the city of New Orleans, to the surrounding bayou, or the Mayan ruins will feel much realistic and alive than on the less powerful PS Vita.

The visuals have also been upgraded, while the audio has been remastered by the Ubisoft Sofia team, which originally created Liberation for the PS Vita.

The facial animations in cutscenes have also been improved, while the draw distance has been drastically increased, as can be admired in the screenshot above, via Kotaku.

Improvements to gameplay have also been made, as Ubisoft took into account lots of feedback from fans and playtesters concerning the free-running paths inside the game's world, the objectives in certain missions, and the layout of various areas.

There won't be any new environments added to the game's world, but there will be three new sets of five missions each, relating to the three outfits of protagonist Aveline – the elegant one, the slave one, and the Assassin gear.

The PS Vita-only features like the touchscreen mechanics or the camera puzzles have been either eliminated or reworked to function with a regular controller, according to the studio.

Expect to hear more about Assassin's Creed Liberation HD soon enough.
