The development team at Ubisoft is ready to offer more information on the way Aveline de Grandpre will feature in the coming Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, in a set of missions that will be exclusively included in the PlayStation 3 and the PS4 versions of the game.

Darby McDevitt, the lead writer working on the title, tells the official Ubisoft blog that, “It’s a ways forward so Aveline is a bit older. It’s not directly related to the end of her story. If Assassin’s Creed IV is like a novel, Aveline’s missions are like a short story.”

Jill Murray, the writer who handled the character of Aveline in Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation, is back in order to write her narrative.

The three missions featuring the character will take a little over an hour to complete and will offer some insight into her fate and the deeper elements of the game world.

Darby McDevitt also offers an explanation for how the character can appear in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and it’s all due to the new updates made to the Animus.

He adds, “The present-day is set in Abstergo Entertainment – which is this fun, hip company to work for… at first. You are able to access the Aveline stuff because your coworkers are working on retrieving different genetic memories from all kinds of different people.”

Ubisoft also promises that it will soon offer more information on the story that Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will tell in the present.

The game takes players to the Caribbean and will focus on naval battles.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will be launched on October 29 in North America and November 1 in Europe on the PC and on current-gen consoles.

Version for the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 will be out when the devices are available.
