Jean-Sebastien Decant, the lead game designer working on Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, says that his game will benefit when it is launched from the success of GTA V because many players will be looking for a new open world experience.

The developer tells The Official PlayStation Magazine that, “with Assassin’s Creed, we’re very different in our approach to the open-world. It’s two different fantasies: do you want to be a thug in the modern day or a pirate in the Caribbean?”

Black Flag is also different in terms of mechanics, because it allows players to fight ships on the high seas and then use the plunder to upgrade their own ships.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will also include more traditional gameplay, with players able to move around and take out targets in the cities of the Caribbean.

Launch date is set for the end of October on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 and later in November on next-gen consoles and the PC.
