A new hero and a new historical setting don't require knowledge about previous games

Ubisoft believes that its upcoming Assassin’s Creed III action adventure game is a great time for new players to experience the long running franchise.

Assassin’s Creed games have a deep and complex story that’s interwoven with actual historical facts and events. As such, it’s been a bit hard for new players to jump into experiences like Brotherhood or Revelations if they hadn’t played Assassin’s Creed 1 or 2.

After recently announcing and detailing the upcoming Assassin’s Creed III, Ubisoft has now revealed, through the voice of its UK manager, Rob Cooper, that the new title offers the perfect chance for new players to jump into the franchise.

"This is a great time for gamers to join the adventure," Cooper told MCV. "There's a huge will from Ubisoft to bring more gamers into this universe. Assassin's Creed 3 is the biggest and most ambitious launch in Ubisoft's history so we absolutely believe this game will continue to grow the franchise."

Assassin’s Creed III introduces a whole new protagonist, Connor, and a new historical setting, that of the American Revolution.

Seeing as how previous games continued the adventures of Ezio Auditore from the second title, the new protagonist and setting should be much easier to understand by new players, who don’t know about things that happened in earlier games.

Cooper is also quite confident in the game’s performance this holiday season, saying that, “This is a huge investment for us and we're extremely confident that together, all these factors will put us in pole position to compete against the other titles this Xmas."

Assassin’s Creed III is going to appear at the end of October on platforms like the PC, PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, not to mention the all-new Nintendo Wii U.

Expect to hear some more details about the upcoming game from Ubisoft later this year.
