Ubisoft has confirmed that the upcoming Assassin’s Creed III title will feature more modern day sequences than its predecessors, as Desmond’s story is still quite important for the franchise.

The Assassin’s Creed series kicked off back in 2007 with an in-game story that needed to end in 2012.

Now that we’re actually in 2012, fans are eagerly awaiting the next installment of the game to see what type of catastrophic event is going to occur in the game and what will happen to Desmond, the present-day assassin.

So far, we’ve only heard details about Assassin’s Creed III’s main protagonist, Connor, one of Desmond’s ancestors who played a big role in the American Revolution.

According to the game’s Lead Writer, Matt Turner, players are still going to experience lots of moments in the present day with Desmond.

"All I can say about Desmond's story is you're going to experience more Desmond than you've ever had before," he told CVG. "We're spending more time on the present than we have in past games.”

Turner highlights that much of Desmond’s arc will remain a mystery until the game is released, as lots of interesting things will happen to him, much more than in any of the previous games from the series.

"It's a big part of our story and I don't really want to give too many details away because I want people to experience what that is. But rest assured, you're going to see a lot of Desmond. More so than in any past game," Turner promised.

The last time we saw Desmond he was experiencing the weird backup systems of the Animus, a machine that allows him to re-live the adventures of his ancestors, whether they were Altair in the first game, Ezio in the next three titles, or Connor in the upcoming one.

Are you excited about Desmond’s future adventures or are you more interested in those experienced by Connor during the American Revolution?
