Microsoft announces that it will deliver Assassin’s Creed II for free on July 16 to all those who have an Xbox Live Gold subscription, as part of its Games with Gold promotion.

The information comes from Larry Hryb, aka Major Nelson, the leading connection between the company and the Xbox community.

He writes on Twitter that, “I can confirm that Assassin’s Creed II will be the next free title released in the Xbox ‘Games With Gold’ Program.”

The promotional offer, which is designed to match the free titles that Sony delivers for PSN Plus members, is set to deliver two titles each month until at least 2014.

It might be extended if it proves to be a success with the player base and it is not yet confirmed as also taking place on the Xbox One.
