Fans of the Assassin's Creed series should get ready to play another adventure based on the universe each year, if statements from one of the main developers working on the franchise at Ubisoft are to be believed.

Speaking to magazine EDGE Falco Poiker, who is the mission design director working on Assassin's Creed: Revelations, has stated about the short development cycle that “A lot of people complain about, I mean I’m talking internally – people say there’s not enough time. But it gives an impetus to the team and we find a direction that we say we’re going to run in, and there’s very little of the indecision that comes with teams that spend two, three, four years developing games.”

The developer added, “Frequently those games will restart completely from the ground-up because they’re like, ‘We’re not satisfied where we are.’ We don’t have that luxury so the time actually kind of works in our favour. We go one direction and we go with it. If there’s problems, oh well, we’ll fix it along the way.”

Poiker believes that a one year development cycle for the Assassin's Creed video game is ideal, allowing the team to add new features and model new environments while making sure that fans do not wait too long for their next playing session.

Another developer recently said that the launch schedule for Assassin's Creed was heavily influenced by the fact that the story of the current arc in the series should be told before the end of 2012.

Assassin's Creed: Revelations will star Desmond, Ezio and Altair and will be launched in November on the PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360 and the PC.

But the conclusion to the story, linked mostly to Desmond, will only be made clear by the launch of a game which will be out during the fall of next year.
