Ubisoft has released a developer diary video that details the premise of the next installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise. In Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, Ezio becomes the leader of the faction and he must recruit and train a new generation to fight the evil Templars.

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood takes place in Rome and it will allow the player to really become involved in the Renaissance movement and the politics of the city.

Ezio Auditore, the protagonist of the critically acclaimed Assassin’s Creed II, will be trying to rebuild the Assassin order and fill up its ranks with loyal members ready to fight for freedom against the plans of the Templars.

The narrative of the game starts exactly at the same moment the last installment in the series ended, mainly because the developers think that Ezio's story does not fit into only one title.

According to the diary, Ubisoft wants to really give the players the feeling that they are the leaders of the Assassins and that it is their responsibility to hone the skills of the new recruits. After their training is completed, Ezio will be able to send the young Assassins on various missions

Some of the old characters will return, alongside a new and interesting cast meant to pull the gamers into the complex story that the developers are trying to weave.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is the first title in the franchise to have a multiplayer component. It allows players to hunt each other down in an environments inspired by Italian urban areas on the Renaissance.

Players can use a variety of tricks, like blending in the crowds or impersonating other Assassins to escape pursuit or eliminate their target.

Brotherhood will be launched on the 19th of November on the PC, the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. A Limited Edition has been announced that includes an Assassin's Creed themed Jack-in-the-Box.
