If this game plays half as good as it looks, Ubisoft may have a winner

Ubidays hosted a lot of great events. One worth mentioning is the publisher's announcement of Beowulf being released for the Xbox 360 this summer. But that's cherry pie compared to the Ubidays 07 Trailer - Assassin's Creed. You have the footage below to watch and be amazed at what the term "next-gen" really stands for. No word on the time-travel rumor, I'm afraid.

The first thing that captures you is the slow motion. Slow motion effects here have been worked and tweaked like nowhere seen before. Of course, there's little chance for everything to look as good in-game, but half of what we're witnessing here would be in order for the gameplay experience (at least the slow motion scenes).

However, what really makes it all work is something else. It's the combination between old-school-ass-kicking and blood 300-like blood spraying with Matrix-like slow-motion effects that is really the winner here.

The game takes place during the Third Crusade, in the year 1191. The gamer plays as a member of the assassin's sect whose objective is to assassinate the nine historical figures who are propagating the Crusades and the suffering of the people. As the gamer finds and kills these targets, their conspiracy is unveiled. The player will be able to travel through three cities, Jerusalem, Acre and Damascus.

Assassin's Creed is probably the most environment interactive game ever developed by Ubisoft Montreal, from the people to the historically accurate cities. Basically, the player will be able to jump, grab onto and climb almost any surface of the environment. Gives a whole new meaning to the expression "no strings attached," huh?

The game hasn't been dated though, nor have the consoles it's launching on been confirmed. This is all for now, on Assassin's Creed. Enjoy the footage and hope that the gameplay is half as good as this trailer looks.
