Game publisher announces initiative to help the fellow Mac gamer

If you want a Mac game, all you have to do is write a review and submit it, Aspyr Media, the renowned Mac-game publisher having made headlines last year for reportedly firing half of its staff, claims. The company has announced an initiative that enables Mac owners to get free copies of game titles, although Aspyr fails to make it clear exactly what game titles we are talking about. The rules seem very simple, though – “submit a Mac game review, get a free game!”

“The intent of the Mac Game Review portion of our NonBlog is to provide gamer feedback on any and all Mac games,” the latest announcement from Aspyr goes. “Old, new, independent or studio developed, the only requirement is that it must be a Mac game. We’ll do our best not to censor as long as you do your best to write like your momma’ raised you to (you know what I’m saying – no potty mouth),” the publisher reveals.

Mac gamers looking to review a title to own it will need to follow a few guidelines. As you would expect, Aspyr wants a concise writeup with no spoilers, a bunch of relevant screens (although this is not a must, Aspyr says), and more. A complete list of “things to keep in mind” for the reviewer is provided as follows:

"1. Keep it simple. The most important thing is to have fun! 2. NO SPOILERS. Remember, no matter how old the game, there are still folks who haven’t played it yet and may be thinking of playing. 3. The review must be a .doc (word) file. If you cannot provide a .doc file, then just copy and paste your review in to the body of your email upon submission. 4. We like screen shots that coincide with reviews but they are not required. If you choose to provide screen shots they must be a jpeg. A maximum of 3 screen shots can be used. 5. Great reviews will be selected as our featured review and as thanks you’ll get a Mac game of your choice from GameAgent.com. 6. We’re not going to post anything that’ll get us sued."

After playing and reviewing a game, users must send the writeup to [email protected]. The subject must say “Review submission for ‘NAME OF GAME’” and users need to ensure that their real name and a valid email address are included in their email. “If you do not want to use your real name in the review, then provide a nickname that you prefer,” the flexible Aspyr says. “That’s it! So please, go have fun as it will only help your fellow Mac Gamer,” the publisher concludes. Visit Aspyr’s NonBlog here for more information.
